Default Need help...

So I got a ticket for illegal exhaust "tips." The cop told me to just take em off, take a picture and bring it to court. Then the judge will dismiss it and I will be in my way. Great!! Well I went out to take the little bastards off and they just wont come. Ive been pulling for over an hour and its like they are stuck. Yes I loosened the little clamps around the base but thats not it. Anybody know any tricks on getting them off or some other way to help my situation. Thanks!

Why are your exhaust tips illegal?

Long story here is a shortened version...

I got pulled over for nothing. When he realized i didnt do anything wrong he decide to get me for exhaust instead. Well he was an idiot because he didnt even know that i dont have cats. He just said my tips were not "factory spec" so they are illegal.

What makes them illegal? Are they the single slashed LM tips or the dual/dual style tips?

What a bunch of nonsense ... I've never heard of "illegal exhaust tips." But then again, there's no telling what kind of rules and regs those fascist eastern states have. If you have a friend who's a lawyer or a cop you could ask him to look up the regs for you so you'll know what you're dealing with.

No references to "tailpipe" or "tail pipe" were found, but here is what I could find on "exhaust" or "muffler":

Illegal tips ROFL, that's a good one, if those are illegal then the local cops better get alot of tickets ready, I see those tips(at least the same style) on bone stock cars all the time.
Go see the judge, and file a harrassment complaint on that cop that's just ridiculous
What was the statute you were in violation of (they will sometimes put that on the ticket) look it up online and see what it says

An exhaust system shall not be deemed to prevent excessive or unusual noise if it permits the escape of noise in excess of that permitted by the standard factory equipment exhaust system of private passenger motor vehicles or trucks of standard make. The term "exhaust system," as used in this section, means all the parts of a motor vehicle through which the exhaust passes after leaving the engine block. Chambered pipes are not an effective muffling device to prevent excessive or unusual noise.
Wow ... my GMMG would be illegal in VA ... what they're going to argue is that your tips are of a larger diameter than stock thus causing noise in excess of the stock system and therefore in violation of statute. I think you may have a problem, and if they want to do an inspection of your system, you have a bigger problem.

I would also but before you run to court complaining *you have a right to*
put some cats on so they can look up and down your car see nothing is wrong at all because I asume they will look at the car with someone esle who might see the lack of cats.

I'd trying spraying some liquid wrench in there, letting it sit for a while, and then taking some big channel locks and see if I could turn it on the pipe and loosen it ... before I coughed up $80.

Why dont you just get a picture of some stock exhaust from the internet and show them those pictures?

Thought about that but Im dure they would want proof that its my car, like a liscense plate or something. And if something isnt right its worth the trouble. I just paid the stupid fine and got it over with.
