Anyone have any feed back on the Bauer ported TB? It looks like a quality piece but does performance go with it? Any input would be appreciated. Here is a link to it:

I don't post links to my site anywhere on the forums, so I feel I follow the rules pretty well.
Tony I would be a sponsor but the monthly price of being one does not fit in our advertising budget. You guys pull in over $7K in revenue a month with out me anyways.

I'm working on a webpage, but have a temporary webshots page where I store pictures.
While we're on the topic of ported TB's, they're not all created equal. While most remove the ridge so the TB is a true 75mm, not all go the extra yard to get the most flow out of the stocker TB. Look at the pics and you'll see what I mean.

Our Bauer Racing Throttle Bodies keep the stock plate. Any commercially available ported stock unit uses the stock throttle plate. You would have to have one made for you specially.
I have looked into it and Jantzer has said he is doing the same thing. IMHO the few extra CFM you will pick up will not get 95% of the people out there any extra power by increasing the throttle plate in the stock unit. On top of that you would run into the problem that the intake manifold has a smaller opening and you would have to bore that out. We could offer a larer one but the price would be around $350 not including the core. So your looking at more than twice the price for maybe 30-50 more cfm when the ported units are getting you 100-125+cfm over stock.

The problem is that the stock TB's can't be bored really enough to make it worth while. I'm pretty sure you couldn't get 80mm out of them. And then you have to worry about the custom blades sealing correctly.
Yep Jantzer, you could have a problem with custom blades. Depends upon how you make them, if you have access to a centerless grinder and you can hold the tolerance to .001 sealing should not be a problem if you bore correctly.
I knew at one point you find out that 80mm is not possible in the stock unit. You would have to thin a wall thickness between the bearings and the throttle bore.
There are so many other things to spend time and money on though for most consumers IMHO. I could make this but ethically it makes zero sense.

I have a stock one here on the shelf in the LS1 Museum that is custom bored to 79/80mm.
Custom blade.
It was done in 1999.
Still doesn't fit. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Ive got the Bauer one on my car. I was having a hard time deciding between the two as well. WHat won me over in the end was Bauer's customer service. Im sure there both great people to work with but things just clicked better with this guy. Ive got no problems with mine and his turn around time was QUICK! Just my opinion!

I got mine from Bret too. Great guy. Excellent on communication and service. I'm sure dealing with Jantzer would be the same treat. I guess just pick the one closer to save on shipping times too <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> . Can't go wrong.
Just got my TB from Bret. It looks spectacular! I put it on the car this afternoon. Quality job! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
edit: Oh yeah, the customer service and updates he gives are phenomenal.

my fault.
I was quoted much higher. Send me some of the info to my e-mail and I'll look it over. I guess I confused here and the other site on pricing. I'd love to support the site. $90 a month is reasonable.
Hey we all screw up once in a while.
