ASP pulley
Performance shop said the pulley might give me some knock retart, and if so I can't use it. Is this a common problem with these pullies, I want the hp gain that it would give me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Re: ASP pulley
I don't like underdrive pullies. I tried them an a 2000 Stag GT and my buddy had them on his 98 Z28. I had trouble with the battery not charging, The car was slighty harder to turn, and lots of other weird problems with electrics. My buddy had some of the same problems.
Even after all that. I still reseached pullies for my 2002. I found out through a buddy at GM. IF it underdrives the pullies more than 10% their is a big chance for problems. Most pullies are at 15-25%. You can't find pullies at 10%. Because they wouldn't make enough power for the money. At that point I figured it's not worth it.

Re: ASP pulley
I have the ASP crank pulley on my 02' and have Auto Tap verified several times no KR. They make anywhere from 0-9 rwhp on a dyno and a very consistent .1 and 1 mph at the track. I noticed a nice gain with mine.

Re: ASP pulley
I've read a lot of more good results than bad. But I decided against them for peace of mind. It seems that they mess up harmonic dampening and will cause long term problems. It's hard to say though because not many people have put 75,000+ on their pullies.

Re: ASP pulley
GMMG has been building LS-1 powered SS's, WS-6's and Z 28's for over three years with ASP crank, and swear by them. I regret falling prey to the STORIES and got rid of mine.

I trust Matt Murphy at GMMG. I asked him about the ASP pulleys at Superfest and he said they're good and had only one bad one (which ASP took care of) in the hundreds he's installed.
Who has them in stock?

Just for arguement sake. Guess how many Whisper pullies were ever returned? A great big total of 3.
The old Whisper pullies were made identical to the old ASP design.. both had problems. Being a one man show, Whisper desided to stop production til the problems were resolved.. while ASP use many of our "LS1 friends" as guinea pigs.. till they got a design that was half way reliable.
