Default headers, o2 sensor question

Hello all,

Headers ordered. Pacesetter Coated LT's (race style), TSP Catted Y pipe.

So, here are hopefully my last header related questions before they go on the car.

1. Any reason to use AC Delco brand rear o2's for my front o2's instead of Bosch 13111's?
2. Does putting brand new o2's in right after a header swap put the new o2 sensors at risk of being destroyed by a backfire or something?
3. Does the stock header gasket package, p/n 12558573, include one or both gaskets? Do I need to buy two of this part number?

Thanks for your patience..
Bryan

1. Put the bosch 13111's in.....they have longer wires that eliminate the need for o2 extensions and the heater circuit voltage is higher eliminating the heater codes most people get with longtubes.
2. Nope.....new o2's are a good thing.
3. Not sure on that one, but I'd assume they come in pairs......I'd personally re-use your stockers. I've re-used mine 3 times and they are just fine. No leaks, never had to retorque bolts.

Have fun!

Okay, new list:

On order:
GMMG Catback
Pacesetter Coated Long Tube Headers (Race Style)
TSP Catted Y-Pipe
Bosch 13111 O2 sensors

Picking up tonight from Advance Auto Parts:
NGK TR55 Plugs
Anti-Seize
PB Blaster
Black RTV Sealant and a small screw (for plugging the AIR vacuum line to intake manifold)
3/4" (?) hole plug (for my SLP lid after !AIR)

*Plan* to reuse:
Stock header bolts
Stock header gaskets

From here on out, it's just hurry up and wait for the headers, right?

I was very serious when I suggested polyurethane motor mounts, if you dont do them now it is much more difficult to install once the headers are one and you will be kicking yourself for having to listen to the y-pipe smacking the floorboard all the time.

Doh!! Thought I saw that on his list. Definitely want to do at least the driver's side while you have all the exhaust off. Won't take an extra hour to do. I forgot about 'em and had to do it with the headers on.......not bad, but took me 3 times longer.

Oh crap, Luna, I thought you were in with the guy who told me to loctite my header bolts..

Anything wrong with getting Energy Suspension motor mounts? I think they're a bit cheaper than Prothane, plus I can just add them to my order with TSP and get them in the same box as the headers?

as long as they are polyurethane and not stock rubber crap they will be fine, the motor just moves around too much with the stockers and causes the Y-pipe to jackhammer your floorboard, it gets pretty annoying after a while!

I saw that you want to re-use the bolts and gaskets. When we did my headers, I bought new stock gaskets and Stage 8 locking header bolts. the headers have been in for about a year and I haven't had any problems yet.

If you are doing that agonizing install, might as well use all new parts. And as far as I remember, the gaskets were packaged individually, so you'd have to order two. Just ask the parts guy, they are cheap. Nothing worse than having to do a parts run in the middle of an involved install like headers.
