Default Egr mod ?

I read on here a while back ,that someone makes a resistor or something that goes in the harness when you take the egr off that keeps the ses light off.
Does anyone remeber this and who made it ?

Thanks!!

Most likely a resistor...

There was some talk of this, but I don't think anyone tried it. Someone (or a few people) stated that the EGR system's current to the ECM fluctuates and a resistor wouldn't work.

A simple resistor will not work. The computer controls when the EGR valve opens, and it checks the MAP sensor to verify that pressure in the intake manifold has gone up (lower vacuum) slightly. You could conceiveably build some electronic device that would monitor the EGR open/close signal from the PCM and alter the MAP sensor output slightly, but this seems like it could screw up other things, since the computer will see a higher pressure (lower vacuum) than actually exists.

All this being said, I have heard of a few people who just yanked the whole EGR stuff off and installed block off plates on the exhaust manifold and a block off plate on the intake manifold, or more likely the LS6 intake manifold, and NEVER set any codes. I think the PCM uses some tolerance to see if thinks everything is in spec.

The only good way in my opinion to take off all the EGR crap and not set a code is to delete the code with custom programming.

By the way, the same sort of thing happens with the air pump. In addition to running the pump on startup, the PCM turns it on every once and a while (not sure on the interval) and looks for a bump up in the 02 sensors. If it doesn't see this, it thinks the air pump is broken and throws a code.

The EGR and AIR systems would be difficult to "trick" with some circuit without screwing up other things.
