Re: Lid vs K&N FIPK
well this was a big thing about a month or two ago. basically i think it came down to if youre looking to swap from stock go with the FIPK but if youve got a lid already then dont worry about switching. theres also the stealth airbox setup that just came out. its about the price of the FIPK too. might wanna look into that.

Re: Lid vs K&N FIPK
I did some relatively consistent non-dyno testing and found the FIPK provided marginally better performance from 60-90 PPH vs. the Free Ram Air (FRA) mod. Less than 1/10 better with the FIPK. Gas mileage showed very good increase with the FIPK over stock, just over 10%.
I don't know how a lid would be vs the FRA but I'd guess the two would be very close. From a $ viewpoint, the FRA is the way to go ($0). The lid at around $100 would still be cheaper by $200 or so than the FIPK. But the FIPK just looks so darn cool.

Re: Lid vs K&N FIPK
I just replaced my FIPK with a lid and SLP's cold air induction kit that fits in front of the a/c condenser. I felt that the FIPK was sucking in all of the hot air from the engine bay. I have not been to the track yet but I feel that I will have better results. I am hoping a tenth or two.

Re: Lid vs K&N FIPK
For about the same money as the FIPK you can get a lid and FTRA - looking at the two systems I am sure that this is the better way to go. There is no way that sucking air from under the hood is better than forced induction from outside.
