Default Finally epoxied the TB

Not having any guidelines, I kind of winged it.
I can't say the way I did it was "scientific", but I can say I have excellent low speed throttle response. Initially I cleaned every surface w/throttle body cleaner, then dressed with a #60 grit dremel drum @ low speed to insure a rough surface in the areas to be epoxied.
For lack of anything better at hand-you're gonna love this- I used Zaino claybar to fill the areas I didn't want epoxy in. I wouldn't really recommend this, as it's very "sticky".
I was in no hurry, though, so cleanup time was no biggie.
I used a plastic soda straw to hold the PCV air inlet open ,and filled around w/clay in the areas I did'nt want to fill w/epoxy.
The IAC inlet (from the plunger side) I filled w/clay to a suitable depth to accomodate the plunger/valve.
I then did about 3 epoxy fills over 2 days-as I said, no rush.
Re-ground the inlet contours with a 120 grit dremel drum, then polished up with a flapper wheel.
I then drilled the IAC cavity and the inlet side w/a drill bit then gradually opened to about 1/4".
I also drilled the PCV inlet to remove all traces of the plastic straw (not necessary-but "felt" cleaner).
IAC counts are good.
Little change in the slightly surging idle I've had since the ST3500 TC install, however.
The only low point was I was walking outside yesterday w/TB in one hand, tools in the other and slipped off my concrete steps and busted me ****, and bent one of the IAC plunger screws (see other post).
Dunno if WOT performance was enhanced, and may never know as I'm not able to avail myself of a Dyno. After a 30 mile drive the cruise LTRIMS returned to their normal 0.0 .
It only cost time and a little epoxy.
Was it worth it? As I said, low speed throttle response is definitely crisper.Beyond that, all I have is the satisfaction of a job well done.

I sent you some mail about what Epoxy your using. I've recently ported my own TB but haven't done the epoxy part yet. I tried some JBStick which is a clay like expoxy that you just twist off the amount you need and work it into a uniform color and apply. My first attempt didn't work out that well.. The stuff hardens in 3mins so you have to work fast. Anyhow I really didn't trust it would hold and easily pryed it out of the notch with a small screw driver.

ttt

Yea, some info on the epoxy, etc would be great!

How big did you drill out the hole feeding the IAC?

I just used regular Locktite "5 minute set" epoxy I got at Lowes. The tubes are small, will take 2 packages to finish depending on how much waste you have. Recommend only mixing small amounts at a time.Do NOT try to do all the fill at one sitting, you will have a mess and the lower layers of epoxy may not "cure" properly.
Final IAC/PCV inlet size was about 1/4". A little larger hole would not hurt.
When first cranked, the IAC may go a little spastic, I suspect because the air volume was reduced so much. You can always go back and drill the IAC from both ends larger if you have idle problems.
Recommend doing this over several days and taking your time.
Note,disclaimer: This worked for me. If it doesn't work for you, well, don't shoot the messenger. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
