home made CAI?? for these cold air intake kits couldnt u just buy some sheet medal and rig it up the same but like 10x bigger and get more air for alot cheaper..ill take some pics to show, but does ne one have any advice?? http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...018580f1e8ef4a

hell yeah you could!!pretty much all you need is a circular saw, drill and a file.
Hell i'd do it out of 16 guage diamondplate if it didn't weigh so much. It's not going to be seen so it doesn't have to look fancy, just functional.
You can get sheetmetal that will hold it's form but can still be bent by hand, and if you don't have welding equip, you use a blowtorch and melt on some of that metal used to join copper pipes.
I don't know how much it would my engine, having ram air already, but it would cool my engine a little bit, lowering manifold temp.
I dig what you said about making it bigger without spending more money, but i would try to get measurements of slp's design, in case that's the biggest that can fit.
I would consider weight vs. horsepower gain, but it definitely sounds like a weekend project
