Default 1 5/8" headers & H/C motors

Anyone using 1 5/8" headers on there Heads and cam cars?
I currently have 1 5/8, 34" long 4-1's into 2 1/2" collector, twin 2 1/2" twin mandrel bent system with X pipe & Hi flow cats.

Would there be any/much gain getting 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" headers and maybe a 3" collector.

I currently have 346 with bolt ons, soon will have TR230/224 cam and shortly after Stage 2 5.3 Heads.

The only 1 5/8" headers I know that we have available for our cars are the Hooker shorties, and they don't do squat. I'm speaking from personal experience on that one. All of the LT's, as well as the Mac mid-lengths, are 1 3/4" primaries. You can get a set of 1 7/8" set from Dynatech if you had a big-inch stroker.

After seeing how much the TR230/224 cam liked to breathe with Jason's car, I think you could benefit from a 1 3/4" primary.

thanks for the reply,I thought as much.
That means I have to get custom made headers as no one makes tuned length 4-1 headers afor LS1's any bigger than 1 5/8 over here <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> .

man, that sucks You should get a set custom-made, then work out a deal with the builder to be your supplier. You could have a monopoly on the 1 3/4" primary headers down under. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Now you must be psychotic <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> or something.
I've been thinking that about more than just Headers, the market over here is really only geared up for basic bolt ons.
Anyway looking into getting some done soon.
