Default y-pipe banging

I just installed a bassani off road y-pipe. And it has been banging under the floor board, and its about driving me nuts. Since my cam is pretty lopey, even at idle it seems to
be banging on both the driver and passanger side. It also bangs under hard acceleration. Is there something that can be done. Could I move it with a crowbar, or something. I know, its
affecting the performance of my car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, you could try bending it down, but I don't know how much it will help if it's banging a lot. You could also get some rubber heater hose to put between the bottom of the car and the y-pipe.

Hell, I never thought of heater hose!!!! I am using a combination of double sided tape and rolled up duct tape placed at the impact spot under the driver's seat. Seems to work...but the hose would actually work as a shock absorber and cause less extended stress to the exhaust connections. This forum rocks!

I just recently stopped my y-pipe from banging by using the heater hose trick and it works great. I just took a pretty long road trip about 800 miles total and the hoses look almost new

Although I have no idea if it would be cost-effective, I'd sure like to see someone try this:

https://ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...c;f=8;t=002522

I'm thinking that some of these flexible inserts could be installed a short distance behind the collectors. This, combined with a more rigid mounting of the rest of the exhaust system (behind the inserts), could help a good deal in reducing Y-pipe movement. This seems to me to be a more elegant solution than just mounting heater hose under the car.

rock, do you know where you're banging? You need to find out if it's against the floorboard or the g-load brace. If it's the brace, and you have the stock one like TA_2001, the fix is real easy. Take it off. The stock piece is flimsy and serves no purpose. If it's against the floorboard, then try some of the ideas above.

Check your pipe lying flat on the floor, mine BASSANI is NOT built correctly LOL. The 2 into 1 collector is twisted. BANGS even after adjustment with BFH! needs MORE adjustinging to stop banging the driveshaft AND floorboard
