Default oil filter question

Hey guys I just dropped my car off for an oil change, I gave them 6qts of 10w30 red line motor oil, only thing is I didn't buy my own oil filter. I figure to leave the red line in there for about 7,000-10,000 miles with a oil test done somewhere around 6,000. Does it matter that I let Pontiac put there own filter in? Should I have bought my own filter?

I hope they put the redline in and don't take it home for their own car

Damn it I knew that was a possibility. How do I check? That **** has been bugging me since I left the dealership, how can I check once I pick it up?

The Redline oil won't look any different from a regular oil. If you're really worried that the dealership put in some other oil - just take a sample of yours and have it analyzed. Redline oil has a much higher percentage of molybdenum in it (~400ppm or more) than you would find in any conventional oil that I can think of. This should be a good indicator.

Well I think I have faith in this dealership, I am going to go pickup the car now.

I'll blow those ****** up if they didn't use it....I gave them 6qts, should I expect to get 1qt back since they probably used a standard size oil filter?

Well I just picked up my car. I am pretty confident they used the redline because I could tell a difference in the engine noise, it was a lot quieter, usually I would have that engine slap noise all the time, but on my trip home maybe the 1st 30 seconds had the noise and then it faded away to where I couldn't hear it at all until I got out of my car and opened my hood.
One question I have is that when I took out the dipstick light smoke was coming out of the dipstick hole??? 1st time I have ever taken a dipstick out so I really don't know if this is normal or not? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
Oh yeah they filled 5qts and left the 6th quart in the back seat for me.....

Even with the stock size filter it should take 5.5 qts.

For the 5.7 you should put in 5 quarts of oil. This is what is reccommended. Check the dipstick and go from there if you need to add more. % quarts SHOULD do it.

Never having used redline I don't know if it looks any different from reg oil. Maybe somebody else will come in and let us know. TTT
