Default Hooker headers?

A buddy of mine bought some Hooker LT headers and we are having a hard time finding someone to install them. Can someone tell me if this is a job that a person can do in the driveway? Do we need any special tools? Someone please help! If you live in the Charleston SC area and would like to help or just do the install we would be glad to pay.
Thanks, Larry

Thanks for the info. I put my vig in so it can't be much harder than that.

It is easier than a converter install.

Question for you regarding the converter install ... how long was the install? I have done various converter install and tranny changes on 3rd gen, one LT1 clutch swap, but never touched an LS1. Input would be appreciated.

I was going to pay a shop to put my Hookers in this week. But, I couldn't do it. I want to put them in myself, but I need extra hands. If you can drive up to Columbia sometime, I have access to lifts, air tools, every tool needed at the autoshop on Ft. Jackson. We could do both cars at the same time, side by side. If you wanna hook up, let me know. Later!

I should cahnge my sig to Hooker LT spokesman/support.

Anyway to answer your questions:

Can someone tell me if this is a job that a person can do in the driveway?
Yes, you can install them in your driveway. Having a friend helps, I did it without help just by my self.

Do we need any special tools?
I used a 3-ton floor jack and two jack stands, 3/8 ratchet, various metric sockets (from 10mm - 17 mm, various extensions (3"-6"), universal joint, spark plug socket for the rathet, and a hammer/mallet.

It took me a total of ~10 hours to install. I had to do it over two days, considering it was 100* outside during the day where I live. So I did part in the morning and part at night.

This can easily be done with a buddy. Put the rear tires up on cinder blocks and jack the front up with stands. That should give you plenty of room. Take your time and follow the directions that came with the headers.

Looking back on it now and thinking the same way you did, it was a breeze.

The vig took about 6 hours. I printed the instruction from the internet and did them step by step. With out them I may not have figured out how to get the trans fluid line off of the trans. I will say I don't care to do it agian. Like I said in the first post these are on a buddys car and as of last night he had found someone to install them. I think he is paying to much but it is his money. I will just have to wait until I get some headers for my car and then I will see haw hard it is to install.
Thanks for the info, Larry
