ATI harmonic balancer needs to be rebuilt?

The ATI harmonic balancer is rebuildable... does it HAVE to be rebuilt after a certain time?

How can I check if it's still OK? (it has an internal disk with rubber stripes - Orings like)

Yep, your'right.

Do you know how good are those aftermarket harmonic balancers?
I have one just because it came with the Vortech kit, to drive the SC belt
