I run the Hooker 3" CB. You'll hear nothing but praise from me when the subject gets brought up.

IMO the SLP dual/dual is one of the quieter setups. The magnaflow is relatively quiet as well for running no cats. This one has a much deaper tone to it.

Random technology makes a nice catback, with a very old-schoolesque tone to it.

The Hooker 3" CB isn't going to break the bank like posted above. I actually got mine for under $300 4 or so years ago. Holding up just fine as well..

Replacing the resonator in the loudmouth with a bullet, isn't going to quiet that setup down much at all. What it will do, is rid the loudmouth of most of that nasty rasp it has when running no cats. It is still going to be loud.

To really quiet it down, you'll probably want to choose another system. Loudmouths are always in demand however, and you should easily be able to sell it. Sell that, and you won't have to shell out much $$$ at all to go for the Hooker. Probably even less than the cost of the bullet muffler from either Dynomax, or Borla.

Hmmm, how much effort is involved in changing the loudmouth out, and putting the hooker catback in?

All the installs I've read show changing the stock exhaust by cutting it to pieces. Don't want to do that to the loudmouth!

I really need to crawl under there this week and get an idea of things. :o)

Unless the previous owner welded it, the loudmouth should come out easily w/out cutting anything. With ramps and basic hand tools, it shouldn't take more than an hour or two to swap catbacks.

Grr, now I just need to post 50 messages so I'm allowed to post to the for sale forum to see if anyone would be interested in buying/trading my loudmouth in northern Indiana!

I have just installed LT and ORY onto my car this weekend. I have the SLP loudmouth and it is crazy loud lol. Shakes the whole house when I start it up from the garage.

I like loud, but I would like to get an electric cut out setup so I could control it. When you say borla... do you mean add a borla muffler to the loudmouth and install the cutout... or did you mean get a borla catback and install the cutout at some point inside the system?

Suggestions for daily driver with quiet 70mph+ and so I don't have to budget $200 a month for noise violation tickets?

I just got my Stainless Works 3" Turbo Muffler System yesterday, I currenty have the SLP 345hp exhaust that came with the car but it is not loud enough for the cam I installed. I will be selling the entire exhaust system from the Dual/Dual tips to the 3" pipe up to the Y pipe (Y pipe not included). Depending on how long you are willing to wait I would make a hell of a deal on it. PM me if your interested or anyone else if they are interested. I have a **** load of parts waiting to go on the car and I am just waiting on my wheels to be made, polished, tires mounted and shipped to my door sometime in the middle of April.

Yea, not sure if its the loudness that bothers me, or the rasp. Of course, I'll probably get in less trouble with a quieter hooker setup. ;-)

I guess it'll depend on if I can get a good deal on a hooker setup and being able to sell my loudmouth, or trade etc.

I have the borla cat back system. The over the axle pipe of borla has a y-pipe kind of set up. It gove over the axle and splits into two pies. One pipe goes into the muffler, while the other just goes straight out the back. For the pipe that goes straight out the back its a place in there where you can install different plates with different sized holes. You can run no plate (loud) or a closed plate (all goes through the muffler) or any of the in betwene plates. I installed an electric cut out where the plates go, and at the flick of a switch I can close if all the way off (muffler) or open it up.

I have a replacement Hooker muffler and found it to be too loud on a highway after a couple hours of listening to the drone. I ended up putting some sound deadning material under the carpet from the rear hatch all the way up to the back of the front seats. Made a huge improvement.

Maybe its the uncatted exhaust fumes getting to me, but I'm starting grow fond of the loudmouth ha ha. Maybe the borla or dyno mouth is my preferred route. What are the differences between both? Anyone have sounds clips other than whats on ls1sounds.com? There wasn't much for the borla. The loudmouth isn't so bad, except for the rasp and lack of back pressure causes the pops and stuff.

Ughh.. the hooker catback is $375 shipped for my car. Its looking less attractive now, eventually the loudmouth will make me deaf enough to not hear the drone right?
