Default Corsa Visit / Replacement Results...

Well, to start with I'm sure at least a few of you know of the strange goings on I had out of my exhaust system (See https://ls1tech.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ulti...;f=24;t=002133 ). Several other people had jumped on and mentioned they had the same problems with their Corsa setups. After working with Corsa to resolve this problem via ups replacement it was decided that I should bring my car up to their plant in Berea, Oh to have them look at it and address the problem directly.

Friday I ended up being tied down to work and couldn't make the trip so I sent my wife in my place (she probably knows more about that car than I ever will anyhow-she's a car nut herself, lol). She took it to Berea, Oh and met with Paul Santiago (the Sales/Technical representative we'd been working with) as well as a handful of others. She was prepared to be scowled out or even hated for 'questioning' their product (as well as being a woman), but what she found was a warm reception and nothing but open and equal respect.

She was taken on a tour of the plant and got to see just what it is that makes up the corsa's build... The first word she gave me to describe it all was WOW! Apparently Corsa has spent a lot of time and money in not only their research, but the facilities as well as the people running it all. It was obviously not a big front for a 'Ma and Pa' organization! Everything was done by state of the art means, and in a very controlled and quality conscious environment. They left the floor open during the walk through for questions, and for those that know my wife (Supercharged Redhead) she obliged them with plenty of questions! They answered every one of her questions with depth and in doing so gave her an even greater since of appreciation for the product and knowledge the staff had of their product.

Of course, the real reason for this follow-up isn't the tour but the analysis, service, and the end results of the car itself. They guy doing the actual work on the car was very friendly and pointed out several things to my wife as well as explained much of the differences between the Corsa systems full setup is vs my setup (for those who did not read, I had stock piping to a corsa muffler out to B&B tri-flow tips). Under investigation he pointed out to her several spots where the weld had holes in it and after cutting it out the found pieces of the weld wire weren't fully 'bonded' and had broken loose inside the muffler most likely attributing to the rattling noise that was present. This finding really clears up a lot as to why the robot-built replacement muffler I had put on the car started to rattle 24 hours after it was installed. The first muffler that was replaced was a year old and part of the pre-robot welded stock.

The gentleman working on the exhuast finished and of course everyone was anxious to hear the end results (after all, we had decided to have them replace the entire custom setup that had the corsa muffler with the entire muffler catback system). The first thing that was noticed were the tips on it REALLY accented the car's chrome wheels. The polished steel tips have such a mirrorlike perfection to their depth that would seem impossible! The tech, being an F-body owner himself, complimented my wife on us treating the car right, it had been a while since he had seen a car in there treated to the right touch of mods to make it right (cam/Headers/ORP/TC). That being said he cranked up the car for her to hear... She melted (and now that I've been driving it I can see why!). The car sounded 20 times more throaty and refined. The aggressive lope was much more distinguished sounding with the full setup. She said everyone turned their heads when it was cranked up in there (like the guy said, they don't get many Cam'd/Headered/ORPiped cars in there)

Well, the day done she shook everyone's hands and thanked them for their work and hospitality and then climbed into the car to take off. She cranked it up herself and made yet another startling revelation that brought a big smile to her face. The interior noise level was could down to 1/4 of what it was before. It couldn't be much louder than what stock was on the inside! She waved at them and jumped on it a bit as they watched her leave to give them a smile. She then found that the throttle response seemed to be better as well (perhaps due to the larger piping now on the car? Not sure).

Long story short.... The Engineers and Supporting People at Corsa Performance are exhaust gods! They have completely quelled any doubts as to the quality of their products I might have possibly had and made me a full-fledged believer! The exhaust's fit & finish is equalled only by its exhaust tone and performance feel! If you have any question as to what system you want on your car and Corsa is on your list of possibilities-GET IT! If it's not on your list of possibilities then put it on there!

I love my Corsa setup. Quiet as can be in the car. My buddy asked me the other day if I ever heard of an exhaust, because outside the car it just thumps with the headers and cam on it. Sounds like your wife had a cool visit!
