a TD's question
anyone ever heard straight piped true duals? i have a thing for likin it REALLY loud!!! im runnin lontubes ory and cut out now in the i pipe but i was just curious if running open duals as if you took the bullets off and put pipe in the place of them sounded good????
When you say "true duals", are you referring to no cross-over at all (no X, Y, or H)?
I am going to just assume you are referring to an X pipe since that is the majority of the "true duals" out there. Another thing is the majority of the kits are dumped before the axle. Just headers alone (with no pipe attached to them at all) are pretty damn loud, but if you were to add a turn-down (giving the "dumped" effect) to these headers, it would make it appear to be even louder. A simple understanding of how sound-waves work will reveal this. Now if you were to have an X pipe, this will dampen the sound somewhat since the sound has more to travel through giving it more "time" to reduce its intensity. Having no muffler at all will not make your car sound tame to say the least. Loud may be good, but a refined loud is much much better.
I say you should get a true dual system (TSP offers a nice system) and get a couple of electric cut-outs to place directly after the headers so you can be loud all of the time and insanely uncivilized loud when you please. You may be able to see where this may not be the most efficient system (knowing that the majority of people have cut-outs to increase performance and this is not going to help out), but you did ask for loud
