Default UNDERDRIVE PULLIES

I was going to put a set of underdrive pullies on my 02'Ram Air and I was wondering who makes the best ones, best bang for your buck, horsepower gains and who to buy from. I know just looking tbyrne is a good guy to buy from just looking at posts and feedback. Help! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I THINK THE PULLIES ARE A WAIST OF $$$$. IF I WERE YOU I'D SPEND SOME $$ ON GEARS (3.73). THATS A GOOD BANG FOR THE BUCK. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

the only bad thing about ASP udnerdrive pully i can tell is my battery power went down significantly, i don't know how bad it is, and oh, i forgot, i have subs in my trunk...
anyhow, even if it's playing quiet, the power is less than 13...

I have seen guys get 10rwhp and 1 to 1.5 reduction in quarter..that don't seem like a waste of money to me.I just put some on..can't tell a sotp but with all my mods its harder to notice.I got the underdrive asp balancer pulley and a smaller overdrive alternator pulley..it charges like crazy now especially on my m6 and pretty sure the little alt pulley isn't taking away that much hp.Just get the overdrive alt pulley if you are worried..they just started selling it...and asp seems to be the best..
so far haven't noticed any knock retard in my car with it..will be doing somemore testing shortly.I have a scanmaster so can see the knock in real time as have it in car at all times. Also got a couple of conflicting belt numbers ..some say a
gates 60 something and some say a 55 if you have the overdrive pulley..the smaller belt would make sense as the overdrive is smaller than stock and they recommend a larger 70 something belt if you have an bigger underdrive alt pulley.anyone know for sure..it seems to fit fine..have to email thunder where I got it or asp to check..asp lists the 60 size but think thats from the old instructions..or maybe the 60 is close enough.

From what I've seen/read/heard they are good for about 10hp. I put on a March underdrive when I did the v6 to v8 swap (so I don't have before and after info on performance difference). One side benefit for me is the power steering is underdriven a bit, which is good for autocross and road racing, it reduces excess recirculation and heating (boiling) of the ps fluid in the pump at sustained high rpm operation.

I got mine from Thunder or TSP for right at $200 which was a crank pulley, alt pulley, and 2 belts combo deal. I didn't install the alt pulley, and my charging is fine, even with a lightweight battery...

I got a set of pullies from ASP a little over a month ago, then about a week later my alternator went out. Not sure if it was related but replaced the alternator so far no problems... Engine is reving quicker, but didnt feel any SOTP difference. I Still think they are worth getting though.

You might want to make sure your pulley inst slipping, if your below 13 something is messed up.

I have the march and it never goes below ~13.5 with an 800 rpm idle.

This is the first bad stuff I've heard about pulleys?!?! My ASP was an easy install and the engine revved much quicker. I've had it on for two years with no problems. Got the whole set-up slightly used from a member for $150.

Have you thought about an "overdrive" alt pulley?

I went with the March pulley since it's fluid dampened (sp?) and besides March has a history of good products. My power steering pump used to whine before, but as soon as I put the UD pulley on it was gone, so that's a good thing. I don't know what kind of power increase I got yet though.
