Default A quick PCV question

Heres the deal can I unhook the pcv hose from the intake and just use the outlets on the valve covers and hook it up to a Evac on my header. I had some from Dynatech where i just weld a O2 sensor bung in and it just threads in to it. Would that work and take care of the oily mess in the intake? Thanks Justin Hagerman

I believe what you are describing is an "evacuation " system similar to what Moroso and Mr. Gasket sells. Both systems use a (larger than stock) oil seperator/breather and use the exhaust to create the vacume. This system uses a one way valve that is placed in a bung welded into the headers 2" to 2 1/2" behind where the primaries meet the collector. This system is only effective if you are running open headers and can create enough vacume. This system is used (according to Moroso) mostly in bracket racing, but if you run alot of heads up and/or are looking for extra hp, then you will need to run a vacume pump which will then "dump" into a tank.
I've never heard of anyone sucsesfully using the stock valve covers in this kind of set-up...too skinny, too many hose connections from left to right and too small. The Moroso kit sells for about $30, but in my opinion will not scavenge the crankcase sufficiently at idle and low rpm.
Hope that this helps.
