Default Coolant Level Indicator On ??

99 z28 m6 w/87k miles

the coolant level indicator light has come on. i've checked the coolant level and it is fine. the car heats up as normal, no overheating experienced. my normal round trip commute to work is 130 miles, and the car runs fine.

can this coolant level sensor be bad, and where is it located?

any other ideas?

thanks

It is pretty common for these to take a dump. The low coolant sensor is located on the passenger side of the radiator a little less than half down. I have heard you can just unplug it and the light will go off. Otherwise you will need to make a trip to the dealership cause i dont think any parts stores carry the part. You could try cleaning it but it is up to you. I replaced mine it is not difficult but kind of in an akward position to push it in all the way.

Mine did the same also. I just had the dealership replace it.

It's such a worthless feature that the 01-02 cars don't have it

Just unplug it and ziptie the plug somewhere out of the way. That thing is screwed up like a soup sandwich.
