Default K&N FIPK on 99 SS?

Hey guys, anyone have the K&N FIPK on their SS? I currently have a whisper lid, but im wondering if the FIPK will give me more gains because we get rid of the restrictive box. Will it work with the factory ram-air on my 99 SS? Anyone??

Do you think its better than my whisper lid? All other mods are in my sig... I also have a granatelli maf, and slp bellows... Just wondering if its worth buying.. And, im putting a dry nitroud kit on soon, so i assume i can drill the k&n fipk housing for the jets right?

no you cannot do dry now, as I believe you can only put a wet on from now on. I am still wondering about the whole ram air thing? I got the FIPK on mine too. anyone?
I just had a thought...what if I did a ram air mod and then cut a hole in the FIPK shield? any advantages/disadvantages/cautions? hmm :-\ thanks yall

Just installed the K&N FIPK on my 2002 SS and also did the Free Ram Air by cutting 2 7" long by 1-3/4" wide ovals into the plate beneath the air filter. Makes a very noticeable difference over the stock air box and works fine with the factory SS hood. Sometime in the future, I may try building a enclosure around the filter similar to the Volant to seal it all.

but with that big ole K&N plate in the way, wouldn't you think it makes no difference to have the FRA mod? unless you cut through that plate?

I will be going to the track Fri. to see if there is a difference.
