Default Pass. side heat shields

The heat shields by my passenger side header are rattling alot. I looked at them and I can't see anything they are actually shielding. Is it safe to just rip those rattly bitches out or are they necessary ??

I took mine off. Just make sure that no wires are too close to the pipes.

Ok it looks like I didnt get the right one because there is still a heat shield ratlle driving me nuts. I am going to go to town on the heat shields tomorrow and rip off any that look like they might not be serving any function.

Any in particular that I should leave alone??

The front drivers side shields should be left alone, IMO. That is where the fuel lines, and possibly brake lines run.

Just an fyi..

I had a terrible rattling and what it ended up to be was the catalytic convertor heat shield..

Took it over to Mieneke Muffler and they tack welded the catalytic convertor heat shield and all was quiet again..

Just a possibility to consider.

Good luck

JB

This sounds a little ghetto but I did it on a friends car with a rattling heat shield. We got a few large hose clamps and pieced them together around the cat. It worked great for him.

Only shield I have left is the driver's side by the fuel lines......the rest are long gone.
