i know that is true for the old sbc , but i don't recall a weep hole on the ls1 pump?? guess i'll have to check.
any other signs? growling/grinding noise from pump maybe??

Re: water pump bad? There is a weephole but the pulley covers it up and you can't see it. Before you chnge that overpriced water pump, check to see if the leak is comming from the w/p gasket. I have seen alot more of those go bad than the pump.

By the way, when I replaced the water pump on my 02 Yukon, I bought a lifetime warranty one from O'Reilly's for about $150. Not bad, I thought.
