New Mods Installed / Questions
I just finished installing my SLP performance lid, smooth bellows and Holley Powershot filter all at once. All I can say is........What a pain in the *** . The instructions from SLP were very difficult to understand making a simple job much harder and confusing than it needed to be and the so called picture provided on the bellows instruction sheet was more like a grey blob with nothing in it being discernable. Just my 2¢
My questions are,
1. Putting the lid on was very difficult as the fit was so tight. It took two of us to insert the rear tabs and clamp the front of the lid. Is this normal?
The Powersot is part #221-4 but I don't beleive that is the problem since the stock filter seemed to fit the same. It makes the thought of pulling the lid to check the filter very unpleasing, and if someone else ever checked it say Jiffy Lube (not that that would happen on my car) I doubt they could get it to re-seat properly and they would probably butcher it instead of taking the time to figure it out.
2. Getting the bellows onto the throttle body was also very tight and did not help make the lid installation any easier that's for sure. When I did get it on I noticed that the bottom of the bellows tube does not seat as far back as the top so that the bellows is on the TB at an angle. Is this normal?
Are there any methods that will make it easier for future inspection/re-installation? I would appreciate any thoughts and advice.
Thanks,
Kevin

I've heard that the Holley Powershot air filter is thicker than a K&N at the point in which it seals to a lid. I have a K&N air filter and a Direct Flo lid, and I have had no problems; they both fit together just right. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Good luck

with my mti lid and K&N, to get the lid back on i pull the filter forward in the tray to get the tabs in and then slide it back to fasten to front clips. works fine. if i didnt move the filter itd be a PITA to get the rear tabs in.
