Default My QTEC Leaks....

I just got it about a week ago and installed it. Was GREAT fun for the first couple of days and now it has a prety bad leak. If I hold the switch passed it being fully closed for a second, it seals fine, but when I let go of the switch, it just leaks again. I thought there was supposed to be something like "constant torque" being applied to keep it closed? Is there anything I should look for (like tell-tale signs) to figure out if I can fix the leak or should I just send it back to Barry?

BTW... build quality on this thing KICKS ***. I was shocked when I opened the box and saw how nice this thing is.

The motor keeps trying to turn. I think that is one of the design flaws. The constant torque bends the blade. Then it doesn't seal. Also. The motor is going to wear out faster, becuase it is constantly trying to turn.

How dare someone badmouth the QTEC If the QTEC is like the McCord, you may need to tighten the allen heads on the shaft that attaches the butterfly to the motor. Again, I've never seen a QTEC in person but my McCord had this very same problem. I also put a film of high temp RTV around the lip where it seals. Let it dry in the open position obviously. I think the high TQ of these elec cutout motors puts a toll on the shafts over time and at some point they'll need retightened.

BTW, after retightening the allens, this problem went away on mine. I first noticed that mine was loose because it would resonate unless I kept on the switch like you stated. The RTV thing probably wasn't necessary but it did make it seal a bit better.

Thanks for the help Barry, I'll give your suggestion a try and see if it works, seems to me like it's a logical fix. I'll let ya know if I have any problems.
