Default Best Headers

Getting ready to order headers. Currently i plan on getting the mac mid lengths because thunder racing has them for like $450 with the off road y-pipe. Is it worth it to pay the extra $$$ for a long tube header like FLP or SLP. I have stock internals and it will stay like that for about 5 years, at which point the car is getting some serious perfomance stuff done (heading off to college next year). Also... if i get the macs is it worth paying two hundred or so $$$ to get them jet hot coated?

I am personally going with the FLP long tubes, "when I can save the 1200 bucks." <img border="0" alt="[barf]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" />
But I think that they will be worth it. They come with the option of the cats, and they have a fine finish. I heard some horror stories of installation of the Mac's. I haven't heard anything bad about the FLP except the price? Just my 2 cts. cha ching!

The mac headers arn't as hard to install as others say. If you have done a header installation before, then you shouldn't have too much trouble. I think the problem most people have is that they dont get the car up high enough. You'll have to pull the headers out from underneath the car, so if you can get clearance, it shouldn't be too difficult. I saw go for the macs. They are a really good deal. Yeah FLPs are nice, but 1200 bucks is a lot of $$$! Do what you can afford.

Go with the macs the flp do not dyno any higher at peak but do put ot more in the mid range. But for 750 bucks more I can find that mid range else where. Also you can make your macs into long tubes.

I would most definitely recommend the jet-hot coating. My Mac Mid's have been installed for approximately 3000 miles and already have signs of rust. Plus it looks like I see an exhaust leak (small, but still there) where the AIR pipe connects on passenger side. I got my passenger side in from above with a little bit of man-handling, but the driver side went in from underneath in a matter of seconds. Still have to sort out my Y pipe banging. Only does it while turning under heavy throttle, *very* annoying.
