160 thermo question

160 thermo question i threw a 160 thermo in there when i did the cam. i have 11.1+ compression so i realize that does increase the temps a little. i put the wrong coolant in (all i had laying around), so i flushed it out with water and put the red/orange stuff back in. temps were about 205degrees. i drained it out some more and put more coolant in (figured there was prolly a lot of water still in there). now its at 180 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> . i think the fans are programmed for 180 though <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> . if i program them for 160 what are the chances the temps will drop even more? it seems like the fans always going! i hear 180 is optimal range for our cars though <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: 160 thermo question I really need to get someone to ATAP my car and findout how much lower my car is running, I just put my 160 thermo in yesterday, and I cant notice a difference on the factory temp gauge.

with 160F thermostat I read 200ish with
AC on and outside air 98F..
