Re: SLP maf sensor
the slp 85mm MAF sensor is the best way you can go. Hot Rod Magazine did a test on this product on their "project ls1" car and it gained 10 hp at the wheels from this product. the reason for this was because the stock 75 mm MAF sensors barely flow enough to let our engine breathe. part of the detuning process they did to limit our very potent ls1 drivetrains. btw polishing your TB isn't gonna do **** except make it look good.

Re: SLP maf sensor
I'm thinking of getting one for my basically stock(K&N w/lid) '99 LS1, but I heard they have smaller injectors, will this affect anything? I tried MAF 'ends' but got heavy detonation after 4K RPMs.
Any thoughts?

Hers what happened to me , i did a test on my car stock maf and then i did the slp85.My car ran 1 1/2 tenths slower with slp and lost 1 mph so i run the stock one descreened.Just what happened to me.

Re: SLP maf sensor
did you guys that lost power tune it somehow or at least autotap to see if you were getting KR after adding the maf. mods need to be tuned in especially something like a maf because it affects how the pcm adds the fuel so it can screw up your tune bad if you dont retune for it.

Re: SLP maf sensor
so are you saying i need to get my pcm flashed or what. when you say tuning what do you mean exactly. all i have now is an mti lid with K&N filter, and a descreened stock maf. I did get 309hp at the rear wheels with my first dyno. I do not want to reverse the power output if you know what im saying.
thanks for the help guys im a rookie

Look at TurboHawk(Harlan) 600 hp car using stock Maf. Jason 99 T/a low 11's stock Maf. Patrick G 11 second car, stock maf. I can go on forever. The advantages of the 85mm maf is the extra degrees of timing it can add just like a ported maf will do. The size itsn' the bottle neck considering the inlet of The Manifold is only 75mm as well. I say descreen stock Maf and buy a translator to add the extra degrees of timing or spend your money elsewhere or port your own maf to get the same gains.

Re: SLP maf sensor
Recent GM High Performance did a review of the SLP MAF and bellows and they did have gains from it. I think most relates to the tuning. And in most case the really good tuners out there have master the fuel tables for the stock and not so much for the SLP MAF. Often the tuners will sway you to the stock MAF just because of the fact that is where all thier expertise exists.

This is an area where the weakest link in the chain should be fixed before moving on... You will have to just try it.
I do know that the stock MAF accounts for a 100CFM drop in airflow when compared to a Lid/ported TB combo with no MAF on the flow bench. I don't know how the 85 will do, but I will find out as soon as I get one in...
