Default Dynatechs are better,I was wrong......

I decided to really go over my dyno sheets w/a fine tooth comb and I wanna tell Julio he was right as usual. It looks like I gained 6RWP/6RWTQ from 5200 right to redline w/my STEPPED Dyna's.

I was gonna change them out since I lost 12RWHP/12RWTQ from 3000 to 4900 but I realized this isnt really important for a setup like mine.
Once I shift into 2nd I never drop below 5300 RPM.

Losing abit of HP/TQ down low isnt gonna hurt me,and if anything it might help me too hook little better?

Granted for a street car the Mac wouldve been better (3000 to 4500) but for my setup the Dyna's out shine the Macs from 5000 on up...

Thanx Julio and the rest of u (Dave P.,PSJ) for making me see the light....

The only time you'll be below 5000 is at launch. With a 4400 stall you'll be pretty close to the break even point, although the 12 ft-lbs would be nice to have.

You won't miss it much on the street. The extra torque might have made your converter feel a bit tighter, but it will not effect part throttle acceleration because the only way you can be at 4000 rpm once the car is rolling is to use less than WOT anyways. For example, the acceleration that you might have acheived at 35% TPS will be achieved at 40% TPS, so it may feel looser but doesn't impact your ability to beat an SUV off the line.

Have you experienced any hesitation? Any leakage or weird O2 readings?

JS, I don't know how many times I've had to take issue with you on this, however, my utmost compliments to you for doing the most manly of things and publically confessing your error <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Good luck on your next combo!

Vince for most S2 setups I still believe the
1 3/4 to be the best size header for a 346 and no one will convince me that a stepped design is nessessary.

But if your running a stout setup that spends most of its time above 5000 rpm them the Dynas are better...

I went over my dyno sheets and it looks like I gain 6HP/6TQ over the Macs from 5200 to 6300 and then they leveled out.Not a BIG improvement but I spend most of my time in this area at the track.

I would love to switch out my Stepped versions for 1 3/4in to see if I would get back the lost 12/12 below 4900 but I'm gonna leave well enough alone,IMO loosing alittle bit from 3300 to 4900 isnt gonna hurt me and if anything might get me alttle better hook which should net a better 60ft/ET....

JS your ET is down 30rwhp, quit dicking around with the headers and find what's wrong. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
