Default HotCam w/ LS6 intake?

Who thinks the intake will hurt me. I am looking for a little more top-end, i have plenty of low-end. Some People said that the HotCam was not very good and it(along with Mac's) gained me 1/2 a second and i now run 1-2 tenths slower than big cammed and ported heads cars around here( and on bald DR's no less). So i am a believer in the underdog. Who thinks that the LS6 intake will benefit with the HotCam and other Mod's in sig? All i want outta it at least a tenth. I ran a 12.95 @ 105.87 mph w/ a 1.91 60ft last friday(first run with new cam and headers) 2nd run: 13.02 @ 104.74mph w/ a 1.99 60ft. I want to be in the 12.7's to 12.8's range. Thanks for the input, James

i dont know if ur gonna like this post but Im running 12.5@108 w/ 1.7 60ft with stock cam,... the intake is very good, had a friend dyno 391 with the hotcam he has a 2001 so it has the LS6 intake.

Mods, Ported MAF ends, 4000 Stall, 3.73 gears etc etc basically same stuff u have on ur car... i popped the intake (LS1) on the bottle when it backfired so I have put on a LS6 w/ Ported TB... new time soon to come i hope.

U can be in the 12.7-8 range no problem if u work on ur 60ft times, just getting some ET Street should get u there...

I second that, I think you should invest in better tires before the LS6 Intake. Yes, the LS6 Intake will help you but it would then only hurt your 60's. With that converter and gearing, you should be in the 1.7x's. Then watch your ET pummit.

The intake will easily give you another 10-15 rwhp. If you want more top end, the intake would definately be the way to go. You should see a good 2 more mph out of the car. An LS6 intake has become a necessity for internally modded LS1's...

I realize there are alot of people running faster with the same mods i have but the area where i am is the problem. I am at Amarillo TX, elevation 3600(usually adjusted to around 5500 because of the air here) our track is about the suckiest around and even with my friends e.t. streets i was only pulling 2.1 60fts with the tires at 13psi and heating them up. Needless to say the track was really bad that night. People who go down to dallas or FT. Worth increase their times by around 1/2 second or more. Traction is not an issue as of now. I was hooking up fairly well the first run and new DR's will help. I'm not worried about the track or my times....just want more top-end. I would like for third gear to pull a little harder. Thanks Damian...i guess i will just have to save about $400. Anyone else have this sized cam and saw good results?

Wouldn't track elevation primarily be reflected in the traps. With your set up, even on a track with no prep at all, you should be in the low 1.8s.

You might want to look at some supension mods, skinnies up front and spend some time tuning it all in ... took me about 30 passes to get my set up all dialed in ... I'm consistantly in the low to mid 1.7s on stock internals and mild converter - even on an unprepped track.

Yeah, the intake will help you. But, traction is really holding you back ... with that converter, proper suspension and your HP, you should be capable of low 1.6s.
