List how much you pay for your oil change and which type of oil you use.
They want to charge me $50 for Mobil 1...is that possible?

I spend about $30 for Mobil one oil (6quarts) and $10 for a filter, and I do the "labor" myself. So I guess thats not that bad, but you should do it yourself!

Most dealers will allow you to bring your own oil and filter and will then only charge you about $10 or $15 for labor.
But you're definitely better off doing it yourself. Then you can let the oil drain longer (instead of just 3 or 4 minutes) and you can also fill up the oil filter with new oil (something they never do) Plus they always overtighten or undertighten everything. If you do it yourself, you know this won't happen.

You should do it yourself. Lube tech is low man on totem pole & most places have a high turn-over on lube tech's , = inexpererance =butchers . My .02 it up to you.

Yet another ditto on doing it yourself. Changing your own oil is too easy to do and learn, and too valuable to trust to someone who is low on the totem pole and likely does not care about your car.
Ten years ago, a quick-lube place underfilled my oil (in my old POS Escort) by a quart. That was enough for me to start doing it myself.
Besides, do you really want someone to put Fram filters on your car, even if you request Mobil 1

I do my own. I use Royal Purple street formula 5w30 synthetic oil. I get my oil from Summit Racing for $4.95 per quart, and I use 6 qrts. I also use a Ac-Delco (PF-44) short (factory)oil filter $3-$4.00. I jack up the passenger side of the car and drain it that way so all the oil goes toward the drain hole. After it all drains out, I let it sit for 15 minutes. The I pour 4qrts of cheap 5w30(penzoil $1.50qrt) oil in the oil fill, and I just let it run right out. I feel this gets all the crap out.

I too sometimes pour in fresh oil while the drain plug is out, however I use the same oil I'm planning on running, and only pour in maybe a half a quart. Putting 4 quarts through it won't do any more than a half quart will. It does help flush out a bit more dirty oil, but keep in mind if the engine isn't running then that new oil you pour in will basically just go straight down to the pan, so you're only going to flush out more stuff out of the pan, and a bit from the one cylinder head.
I don't like to get different oils mixed in there, which is why the oil I pour down there for this flushing process is always the same oil I'm putting in.

Ok...let me see if i can remember...
So, im gonna put mobil 1 in my car, with WHICH filter? And the filter is only HAND TIGHT, right?? Remember to check that the seal is off, then rub a lil oil on the new seal before hand tightening the new filter. How do you fill the filter with new oil? How big of an oil drain pan should i buy to recyle the oil? Maybe i'll just pour it down the street when i wash my car. Hopefully, that would eliminate the cat that keeps sitting on my hood....j/k
Do i have everything??

I was concerned when I did my first oil change as I'd never worked on a Camaro before and I'm in the UK - I received a lot of good advice from Patman and others and it went without a hitch.
Check out the detailed instructions posted on Install University (link below) - it also gives info on oil filters - it really is a piece of cake.
Good luck.
