If your highly modded, big cubes, or lots of boost, go 1 7/8. Anything else, 1 3/4 is plenty.

Level of modifications?

If you are asking, without giving a very long modification list, you should probably go with the basic 1 3/4"

You want a smaller primary size. I believe it to be that it may be overkill for most stock cubed applications unless you are running some retarded boost or shot.

It is the same principle as the rest of the exhaust. You will get better velocity out of the 1 ³/4 size anyway.

Overkill yes but you will see no less a gain than the 1 3/4 right? And could you explain why it would be better velocity. As I have got Nos wet system 100-150 shot on the way then 1 7/8 are the right headers for me correct? Also next year I will do a 383 stroker kit and bettter heads and cam where the 1 7/8s will be really helpfull or OrangePeel do you think I should change my order to the 1 3/4 headers?

im using 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8th on a NA 408 there have been many comparissons done to show that the stepped headers will give you more low end torque and almost as much if not as much high rpm hp..

yea, you will loose some low end torque over the 1 3/4, but you will make moer HP on the top end with the 1 7/8th.. thats why the stepped headers are pretty popular.

lot of factors to figure in on that, but you must also ask in regards to the 1 7/8th's

Do you gain much HP or just a little? its a trade off

With a big stall you don't have to worry about loosing any low end tq, cause you'll never be in the low end.

I'd say go for the 1-7/8" now if you plan on doing that stuff later.

Id agree if this was a track only car, but i think he plans on driving this car on a regular basis. But, i dont see a probelm with the 1 7/8th's... like i said each one has a trade off thats why im staying with the stepped headers.

Thanks guys for the advice I am going with the 1 7/8s and I am also going to order a 3400 2.1 fuddle tomorrow, I think this should be a good combo with my 3.73s I have sitting in my room waiting to go on.I think my car is going to be one mean street car. After these mods Konis, strano swaybars, hotchkiss springs and nitto 555r's.I should be in the 12s Na with the above street set up and I am hoping with SD,k member, carbon hood,a arms, recaro or sparco buckets, some other weight reductions and a battery relocation 11s NA and if that didnt work nick williams 90/90 ,heads and cam then if that doesn't get me into 11s NA the 383 stroker will be next.Cant Wait 11s 10s what ever its gonna be fun.
