Engine temp after headers?
Engine temp after headers? I just installed race style headers and TSP duals this weekend. I have a 98 and before I put the headers on the car would always run at 185 when cruising at 60 mph. I just drove the car for about 20 miles cruising at 60 and now the car runs right at about 205 degrees. I was just wondering if it is normal to run hotter after headers are installed? By the way I also took all the emissions off and the back 02s and i havent had time to get it tuned i want to wait until i install my heads,cam,intake. I am not to worried about it right now but I dont want it to overheat right away if i get into bumper to bumper traffic. Any help is appreciated
Mine did the same thing. Nothing to worry about, and you might as well wait to get it tuned. Don't forget that the factory guages in these cars are crap. What you guage reads might be way off the actual temp.
mine is un-tuned and it doesnt heat up. of course, i think the 98 year was the last year of the "working" temp guage. although, i had a '97 Z28 once and after i did LTs i noticed the car running cooler to be honest. mabye after you do a tune you'll get it back down to where you like it.
