EGR Valve Is there a acceptable way to eliminate The EGR valve on a 2000 SS? I know GM did away with it on the 01 and 02 cars. I don't want any drivablity issues and I have to pass the emissions check.

Re: EGR Valve Why do you want to dump the egr? It wont hurt your performance & if you got to pass emissions with a scan test involved they may find a deleted egr from your pcm by a tuner or a LS1edit. To emission testers there is no aceptable method of removing any original equipment emissions componet but, thats only if they catch you.

Re: EGR Valve Im thinking about doing that to my 98. What do you mean it wont hurt performance? Its a little thingy sticking right in the middle of airflow. We dont have emissions checks out here so whatever goes <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Thanks for your replys. I simply don't like exhaust gases recirculating thru my intake system if its' not necessary. I realize that the crankcase needs to breathe, and thats the job of the PCV valve. As i've mentioned, the 01 and 02 cars do not have a EGR valve. What did GM do to eliminate the EGR between the model years?

Re: EGR Valve 01 & 02 cars don't have egr's due to the cam change for those years. GM found they don't need the egr help to reduce oxcides of nitrogen (NOX) emissions because the new cam did not produce alot of them . Egr is only used for part throttle application, no idle or full throttle. Egr helps quench pinging when flowing also. Exhaust gas is mostly void of oxygen & when reintroduced into intake charge it does not add heat to combustion because of it's lack of oxygen. If this is a stock vehicle I would just do the egr tube free mod & leave it. But if your going wild cam/heads, & tuning might as well delete egr because it won't need it.

Re: EGR Valve Speed Inc has block offs for the egr valve. You could put those on and remove the whole egr. It will throw a code but will run fine. They are only like 14 bucks for the egr and the air block offs in a set.

Re: EGR Valve NC GUY you can, get a regular LS6 intake (has no egr provisions) , get block off plate , & either take car to get tuned & have egr deleted from pcm with LS1 EDIT, or buy edit & do it yourself.

Good advice and thanks for your help. The LS6 intake is a good idea and I've been considering it for my 00 SS. Along with the blockoff plate, it might help. I'll look into this further.
