Air filters
The only reason I run a oiled filter is because I have removed the baffels and sealed the hood to the airbox. The filter will get wet in a hard rain and I think the oiled filters hold up/work better when they get wet.
If your filter does not get wet I would not worry about getting either one as I just don't think they will help HP. Example- When I remove the filter{ Holley, K&N or paper}, I consistenly pick up around .5 to 1 mph in the 1/4. As I said, it doesn't matter if it's a paper filter or the oiled one. Also, back when I road raced motorcyles I had the miss-fortune of buying a stock replacement filter for my bike{a FZR400 in D Production}. Guess what, spent 40 bucks for less air flow. Put the thing in and had to jet it down. Thought maybe I over oiled it and washed it out-no dice still crappy. Called Factory performance and yapped at them cause I thought they have sent me some mis-marked jets and told them what was happening and the guy asked what the part number was and told me to call him back in a week. I did, he bought one and flow tested it. It flowed less air than the stock one. JMO, just buy a new filter for track use only. Put it in when you race and it will last a heck of a long time. Then just change your regular filter at your normal time.
This is because the K&N has gasket material that wicks into the filter media all around the edge of the filter. That steals about .5 to .75 of a inch all the way around the filter. The Holley does not have this. The Holley fits better.

I have had no problems with the gasket on my lid and it's been on that same lid for alittle over three years of punishment.
Peace,
Craig.
