Need Help Today I went to a local muffler shop trying to get a price quote for a cat back system for my 02 z-28...They were trying to discourage me from doing anything to the exhaust except go with a free flowing muffler?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
They were telling me that the 2.75 inch pipe was more than enough exhaust and the only things these cars needed was a muffler <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
I could not understand what there point was? All I wanted was a 3 inch cat back system installed and they acted like I was just throwing mo <img border="0" alt="[Camaro]" title="" src="graemlins/camaro.gif" /> ney away <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> Well anyway, I still don't have a cat back exhaust system as I declined just adding the muffler..

Re: Need Help Their point is that just replacing the muffler will be much cheaper, and they are right. You will see greater HP gains with a 3" catback system, but honestly, the difference will not be much, IMO. Exhaust systems on the LS1 are mainly about looks and sound- if you are looking for big HP increases, you will be disappointed.
Re: Need Help If you want to pick up power thru exhaust, an exhaust shop is not the place to go. Try long tubes off road pipes to start, just an idea. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
