EGR block-off? what's wrong??

I'm in the midst of doing the cam and headers and was about to put on the EGR blockoff plate when I realize that it (and the gasket) is too small to cover the "hole".

Am I not seeing this right, or am I doing something wrong?

Troy

BTW...I just removed the EGR from the manifold (and the car entirely)

Are you confusing the EGR with the AIR holes. Or did you get the block off for the AIR and want the EGR one?

Try going to Pep Boys and picking up a $3 1 3/8" freeze expansion plug. You'll see freeze expansion plugs at a lot of places, but for some reason no one sells the 1 3/8" version except for a well stocked Pep Boys. Hope this helps.

On the Freeze plug what do you use to bond it to the EGR hole?

Re: EGR block-off? what's wrong??

The egr block off plate you got is for the EGR tube coming from the headers to the bottom of the EGR itself. Are you looking for a plug for the EGR hole in the intake?

Okay, okay, I finally figured it out and took care of it...

Here's what's going on... the other EGR plate is for on the headers and then I got a 1.25 expansion plug and used it in the EGR hole on the manifold.

Thanks for the help guys! (Buschman )

No, I'm pretty sure that I've got the right one. I ordered them from Speed Inc. I got two for the air tubes (off of the headers) and I've removed the air system entirely; and I got the one (a little larger) for the EGR.

What kind of headers are you putting on. I have hookers in the mail along with the same block offs from Speed Inc. So i hope i dont run into this problem also.

Re: EGR block-off? what's wrong??

for the AIR and egr block offs on the headers it doesnt take a rocket sciencetist to make a little plate outta metal or alum.

i just found some scrappy metal, sanded it down, rounded the edges, drill some holes and bolted into place. Got some gasket seal gunk from auto store and no leaks

glad you got it figured out though

For the EGR hole on the intake use the 1 3/8 freeze plug with a little RTV. Worked like a charm. No more leak and it looks nice as well.

I would advise keeping an eye out for a 1 3/8" plug when you get the chance. By the way they specifically tell you not to use any sort of sealant, especially in that area of the engine. I'm sure a little hardened sealant getting sucked up in the intake is not gonna do good things for your enine. The plug itself seals perfectly. I'm sure the 1 1/4" will work fine, but keep an eye open, the 1 3/8"s are hard to find.

Anyone have a pic of the freeze plug? Thanks.

Why not buy the LS6 intake without the EGR provision from PACE? For $435 it comes with the lines and freeze plugs too, INCLUDING shipping!
