Newbie question on headers

Newbie question on headers Hope you guys don't mind a newbie question up in here.
Is there a nice place on the web that'll teach me some things about headers? (besides here) I am seriously lacking knowledge in this subject. I would just go to some shops but I'd think they'd just peddle me whatever they made the most $$ on.
I love my car more and more everyday, these things are great. I won't be buying headers for a while, I need to learn about 'em first! But, I will mention, my ride will most likely be a daily driver and NOT a racer, and must be able to pass emmisions. So, if anybody would like to throw out some comments, that'd be great!
Which headers are known for the most HP? (I don't care much for sound) I've got the impression that Grots, FLP and SLP are good ones. Am I on that one?
I guess headers/y-pipe/cats usually go in combination. Do you mix and match much?
Can you pass emissions with LT headers?
What the heck is a collector?
What sort of 'features' do headers have? What do I need to look for to make my life easier?
