My question is regarding TB and MAF sensor orientation, The TB butterfly runs horizontal and the MAF sensor air foil runs vertical making a cross +. Now would it not make more sense for them both to be aliened? Less air obstruction, I turned mine today and will check some ¼ times later next week..

Often "straightening vanes" in things like wind tunnels are aligned at 90 degrees to one another to keep rotation to a minimum. It depends on what the flow characteristics are before and after any vanes.
IMO it would be difficult to fnd any advantage/disadvantage. But have fun with it.
