Default Off Road Y-Pipe?

Does a off road y-pipe really help? I heard a few people say it does and some say it don't.

IMO... it's a waste of money if you plan on upgrading to long tube headers.. basically it's money thrown away..

PCM dyno tuned with LS1Edit. I am planning to do a y-pipe w/o cats. You're saying this isn't worthwhile??

I think John is referring to the guy's ? is that he does NOT have headers. Therefore he is throwing $$ away with a Y-pipe alone. that's what i get anyway.

.. not sure how that can be confused... but, yes going with off road y-pipe should help you gain HP since you aleady have headers.

I was just wondering if the y-pipe was worth the money. Headers right now is a little out of my price range and I don't have the means to get any tunning done if mine ran "pig rich".

I just wanted to know if they gained any in throttle response and ET's? I know allot of products out there promiss big gains but deliver very little. I like to buy stuff that I know works.

Bandit, I did just that! No ET slips, but with the SuperSucker RA and the Y-pipes without cats, the SS really came alive in the top end. Another "benefit" is - I got the LoudMouth sound without touching my SLP dual-duals. Next year TC & ET Streets. In 2 years, Grotts & other Y-pipes . . . heck, anything to keep our economy going.

I have the MAC Off-Road Y-pipe on my car with stock manifolds. Its definently louder with the SLP "two on the left" exhaust, and with the cutout open it sure feels stronger in the top end and has a VERY MEAN 'open header' sound to it. Only reason why I went with an O/R pipe was because one of the flanges on my driver side cat was bent so I had an exhaust leak that was impossible to fix unless I got a new cat, and IMO the off-road pipe was a lot cheaper
