99 gas tanks are plastic, and lighter. Anybody ever done the swap?

The change is possible and is takes 18 pounds off you total weight. I have not done this swap myself cause I have a '01 Z-28. But I know it is possible.

Wouldn't the extra 1.3 gallons the 99+ has on the 98 tanks counterweigh the 18 pounds?

not if you're only running 4 gallons of gas at the track.

Xaon has a point on that one. It's good for track running. But on the road with a full tank of gas it wouldn't quiet counter weigh it. But when you use that extra 1.3 gallons of gas then you'll probably get a bit better gas milage on a highway trip. Who knows. Sounds like it would be worth it to me.
