Default EGR

I saw on www.performancepartsoutlet.com a custom set of plates to removethe egr stuff. What do I need to do to make this possible? I have LS1 edit and i daily drive this car but the removal of this should effect my daily driving right? I don't live anywhere where it gets cold. so what does everyone know about this mod???? and is there anyother thing i can remove that will not impair daily driving but improve power?
Thanks

Why do you want to remove your EGR?

why not??? doesn't the EGR pump hot gas into the intake manifold? thus heating the intake charge? Thus contaminating the intake charge air with exhaust gas? Do race cars have them? no...... So why do I need one???

well i do the work myself just he is the biggest domestic turner around so when i have a qustions i consult him. But in this case i think he is basing his knowledge on typhoons and grand nationals he hasworked on. oh by the way disconnecting the AIR pump won't do anything but shave weight it is electric i thought it might be pulley driven gues i should have looked huh?

Ya know, I came over hear searching for this information. Can't get much of a reply myself on ***.com. Anyways. Pull the EGR off. Get block off plate for manifold and Intake (If you do not have a LS6!) you can get the block off plate from a guy on LS1 for the intake. None of the vendors sell it to my knowledge. Then you can either get an EGR simulator or have the code deleted with tuning. I am removing both AIR/EGR from my 2000. I will not be getting tuning till after my head/cam install so I will be driving with an SES light for a while. Oh well.

I made my own EGR bypass. Make your own block off plate from 1/8" flat stock (Home Depot). Take a 1/2" square by 1' long section of K&N foam filter material and feed it into the tube that went from the EGR bung to the EGR valve itself with a coat hanger. The EGR still functions normally, but it breathes filtered air from the atmosphere, not hot, dirty soot that should be going out your exhaust pipe, not back thru your engine over and over again. The computer asks the EGR three questions and expects to get the right answer for all of them or it sets a code. It checks the EGR solenoid, excess flow and insufficient flow. With my mod all three of these conditions are satisfied so the computer doesn't set a code. Clean the foam filter material once in a while.
