Default Porting Plastic Intake Manifold

In the magazine engines by hotrod there is an article with the school of automotive mechanics talking about the tips they have for the LS1. They said since the intake manifold is plastic like that it was a breeze to port. Anyone else do this.

I can't say I've ever heard of anyone porting the intake manifold. They are restrictive though. The LS1 needs an alternative intake. The holley weighs a ton and there are usually vaccuum problems with it. The LS6 intake is better, but there is still room for improvemnt.

CARTEK ports them. Don't know what kind of gain they give.

I've heard CarTek usually got about a 6-8 rwhp gain with their ported LS6 intake. I don't know if they lost any low end by porting. Last time I saw a ported CarTek LS6 intake it was around $700

The LS6 intake is going to be hard to beat for a stock cube 346

cartek's porting is proprietary and enhances their port design
