we do ported throttle bodies. Then you still have $350+ left over, you could always save more and do headers. They start at $400, but the whole kit (y-pipe, cats or not, O2 Sims, coating etc....) always runs up the costs plus there is install.

gears...wouldn't 4:10 be the best but with the stock rearend...?
bout to get my maf and tb ported for $100 so thats already in the works.

Re: best mod for $500 Sense you asked it is nitrous.I dont care what anyone else says it is the best bang for the buck.Gears will give you what a couple of tenths and you will get worst gas mileage and howling in the rear in some cases that is like a 350 dollar mod,ported TB will give you what 10hp for 150 which is not bad I have one myself.But nitrous can give you a full second or more depending upon jetting and it is safe when run properly.

Re: best mod for $500 I would finish out the bolt ons before going into the engine.
A cat back would be a good place to start...you can get those for under $500.
An SLP or Borla y-pipe can be done pretty cheap..new ones are $200.
A ram air kit would be a good mod as well. A Whisper Ram Air, Fast Toys Ram Air or the new Super Sucker thing would be a good mod. $150-$225
A pulley would also help you. $200
If it's a daily driver I would stay away from gears...4:10's in the rain and snow might give you more excitement than you want. If your car is a sunny day only car or you are only interested in drag racing 4:10's would be a good choice.
