Bad Detonation could this be the problem???

Bad Detonation could this be the problem??? I have a 2002 Z would a Descreened mass air meter off of a 2000 Z would that cause the problem?And also does removing the screen cause this either?

I try to help anybody on here but i dont like to answer with out personal experience. In your case i have no trouble with pinging with or without screen and my maf is ported but i have translator and you should too.The more stock you are the more these changes disturb factory tune.2001 thru 02 are tuned pretty sharply from gM and its hard to beat until you make mod changes.

Nine finger-did you take the entire mass air meter from the 2000Z or did you just take the housing "ends" off ,If you put the entire sensor on your 2002 that could be part of your problem. The tuning difference between the 2000 with ls1 intake and the factory 2002 ls6 intake without egr might be totally different.If so take the sensor part of the meter out and install just the housing with your factory meter.Hope this helps. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
