Exhaust cut outs

Exhaust cut outs My buddy just threw an exhaust cut out on his 97 Formula and said it is alot louder. Well no ****, but I am wondering as to what performance increases he will see. I have been reading about them on other bulletin boards, but I am wondering if anyone else has any ideas. In anycase, I would also like tp put one on my 98 LS1 and see what happens.

Re: Exhaust cut outs Some guys don't see any gains on the dyno and some see 5-10RWHP. The more power you have, the larger the gain will be, usually. As for ETs and MPH. Some don'y seen any gain, and then there are some who seen .05-.10 gain and 1-2 mph. Again the more mods you have the more you'll gain from a cut-out. An example would be: say you have a 2001 SS M6. Its completely stock and you add a cutout. You may see 1-10 RWHP or you may not. Now if you have a 2001 SS M6 with a H/C and stock exhaust you may see 5-20RWHP. If you have a 382 or 422 stroker and you add a cutout to a stock exhaust you could gain up to 20-35RWHP! I say on a stock LS1 a cutout is good for sound. I have a cutout on my 2000 WS6 M6. I never dynoed the car, but I ran the car with nothing done at all and ran 13.3 on F1 tires. Then I had the cutout installed, removed the hood baffles, and added a K&N filter. The best I've gotten so far is 13.3 with the same tires. I tried Nittos but my clutch was on its way out. I did gain 1.5 mph total to a 108mph. Main thing: the cutout made it sound much better and $27.00 is better then say $700.00 for a catback.
