Default Loudmouth

I just installed my Loudmouth exhaust on my 01 WS6 convertible. You've got to be kidding me. It sounds just like what it is, a car that needs a muffler. Somebody already told me that it sounds like a boat. I'm glad that I took my original system off in one piece- easier to put back on!

If you don't like the sound of the LM as is - consider welding a Dynomax bullet muffler in place of the SLP resonator in the I-pipe.

I have the LM and I think it sounds great! Sure, my friends say it sounds like a powerboat when it's just idling, but when u go WOT, forget it!! It's one of the meanest sounding cars I've heard. And the "powerboat" sound will be gone and it will sound even better after the FLP headers are done. Hope you have some luck with yours.

Sounded like a damn pick-up truck with straight pipes to me. It is just loud noise with no tone IMHO. Awful sound and drone for regular cruise. But I will agree that it sure does sound good at idle and WOT. Just not very good in between though.

Put a DynoMax bullet in place of the resonator.
I have a couple sound clips on my site listed in sig... page 2. The sound is deeper and has alot less drone.
Go with part #24222 if you have cats, #24219 if you don't have cats (or if you want it even more quiet)
Good luck
Dave

I put a 3-1/2" Borla XR-1 in place of the resonator and I love it.

Peace,
Craig.

If you want a good compromise between the dynomax bullet muffler and the Borla XR-1, I would definately recommend you do what I did. I got a custom made chambered muffler(kind of like the GMMG)to replace the resonator on my Loudmouth. I did quite a bit of research on it. I've heard the dynomax bullet muffler before and it was still too loud for me. I also looked into the Borla XR-1 but it was too expensive for me. My chambered muffler cost $58 shipped to my door. I think my car sounds very very nice now. It made a huge difference. Interior drone was cut dramatically and my car doesn't sound like a truck anymore. It has a deeper more refined tone now. You can go to www.sweet-thunder.com if you want to check them out. Good luck in your choice.

I was going to do the Sweet thunder pipes too. I found out that their 3 inch resonator actually is only 2 1/2 in inside, which ruled that out.

Id recommend putting a dynomax ultrflo muffler in place of the resonator. They are fairly quiet. Check out the dynomax race muffers at the Summit website. They go for about 60 bucks.

i installed my loudmouth today. it's not nearly as loud as i expected it to be. i agree that it sounds somewhat truck-ish, although it's far from bad. there are plenty of ricers around here that are louder than my car. before, i had a flowmaster in place of the stock muffler, and i don't think the loudmouth is TOO much louder than that. this is with stock manifolds and cats, btw.

the loud mouth is great, espically after you get some headers and get rid of those cats.

I just installed the SLP Loud Mouth onto my Trans Am last weekend. I LOVE IT!, and personally have no gripes about the sound at all at any RPM range.
As far as those who say it's too loud...Should realize that basically removing the muffler is going to make the car sound a lot different than stock!
