Starting problems......intermittent
I go out to start the car and it will turn over and try to run for about 10 seconds while spitting and sputtering. I have not done anything to the engine, well the bolt ons that have been there for a year plus.
A-tap shows no DTC. The only thing I see is that the battery gauge stays in the red while it is trying to run.
Any ideas for me guys?
It is running once again, but after 45 mins of trying and giving up, trying and giving up....
And no Brian, I am not going to sell it so don't even suggest it.
Sorry to hear about the trouble...
My best bet would be a battery that's about to die.
Basically not enough juice for the PCM and everything else... Haven't experienced with one of these cars... but did see it alot with the 'stangs.
Well, the car is a 98. The battery was replaced about a year ago.
Of course cranking fuel pressure is also into focus here.A good indication would be to see if you can keep it running while just a tad more throttle opening with your foot,
I tried this while it was sputtering and it had no response at all.
When it finally did start, it was a strong start as normal.
Cold start? Well, I had been out and after about 20 mins wanted to go out again, so the temp was not completely cold. I always use the same fuel and I guess gas could be the problem, but that would be too easy, huh?
I'll check all of these things today.
