Default slp headers

I have an 02 firehawk and my next mod is going to be slp long tube headers with high flow cats. Just lookin to see how much of an increase in performance others have picked up with this mod, on quarter mile and dyno.. THANKS,

Save some money and don't buy the cats. I pick up around 2 tenths and 2 mph with SLP LT's w/ ORP's.

I was thinking of running no cats. I will just have to switch my cats off and on when i get inspection..

Depending on your exhasut - running cats will actually make it sound better - gets rid of the rasp. Yes you will lose a few ponies, but you can always switch the cats with ORPs for track days.

Just my opinion. I'll be going with SLP long tubes w/ cats w/ my GMMG.

Just installed mine the other day and haven't had it to the dyno yet but, in first gear and at 4400 rpms the tires just start spinning, The car continues to spin and when I power shift second they continue to spin and then finally catch again well into second.....

The install pretty much sucked. I installed Hooker Long Tubes by myself on my 97 Z and at the time I thought that was a pain. This was worse. You need to have a friend to help when you do these headers. When you get ready to do them let me know and I will explain how to get around the tricky parts that I ran into.

I haven't had any banging problems at all.

BTW, on my way home I did a WOT run through third and I was wrong. The tires break loose at 4500 and continue to spin through the shift in second all the way until I shift third..... Gotta love it!!

Heres MHO!!!

The finish sucks! See:

<img src="http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid23/p3d0e01dd1757493d9ab3cf8024f4a9c1/fd9c687a.jpg" alt=" - " />

That was only 8 months old and was told "Its normal, deal with it"

Y-pipe sucks, split in half. See:

<img src="http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid23/p8bcca2274e8cf066a4270a75b7038d41/fd9c6875.jpg" alt=" - " />

It goes all the way around <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

The install was alright. I melted about 5 wires from my PCM from having to reroute them. YES, the headers burnt through the sleeve!!! The power was alright. I made 350 RWHP and 360 RWTQ with minor bolt ons. The ground clearence sucks! The Y-pipe bangs alot. Also, its next to impossible to put on and off by yourself.

I know theres more, but I cant remember

I will necer again buy another SLP product again <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Remember JMHO!!!

No idea where you got those pictures. I have had my SLP L/T for almost 2 years. Still perfect. 600+ 1/4 passes.

If you are going to be running ORP just get the O2 sims. Easy fix.

I saw big time gains with the SLP L/T. Would change a thing.

Country Boy, maybe you had a bad experience/bad header. Mine looked like new 1 1/2 years after having them, and I race. No cracks. No rust. No banging whatsoever.

I just put SLP with ORP on mine. Man it is loud. Getting MTI to put the cats on. The car sounds like a monstor without cats!! I will loose alittle RWHP, but I will be able to hear again. I lowered my car and have no clearance problems at all! Love the look! Good Luck!

Mean Machine: I sold the headers and the Y-pipe. Im going with a different header. They didnt seem to do much for me. I only ran a 12.8 at 108 N/A with all the mods below. I perferr a straighter design and a collector thats smooth and not sudden. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

OnyxSS: You might be right. It might just be a bad experience, but I had to deal with SLP on more than just this and they sucked. No cust. service at all <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> It took two people to put on the Y-pipe. You had to pull it apart to be able to slide it on <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> I have a dent in the floor from where the Y-pipe used to SLAM the floor pan. Thats one reason I have true duals now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
