Default Octane Help...Please Read!

I have had problems in the w/ pinging...partly due to the octane level of the gas I was using. I have now started using higher octane gas, but 92 is the best I can find w/o driving to another town. My question is, does anyone use an octane booster per gas tank to help w/ the level of octane and prevent pinging. Are they bad for your fuel system?? If so, which one do you use?? Please Advise!

Thanks,
Jeff

Running too lean is a problem that sometimes occurs with the use of a lid and an aftermarket MAG - both of which you have. I used to have severe detonation problems with my old stock block from those mods.

Now started using 92 octane? Sorry... reminds me of a guy I know that used to have a TA....

I would suggest not to use octane boosters... unless you like changing plugs and having a red tint on your plugs when you do change them...

If you're car's stock you should have no problem running off of 92 octane... I run 93 octane with that democrat instigated , tree hugger supported, George Ryan corrupted (vote Jim Ryan not BagBoyABitch ), illinois, stupid reformulated gas....

RamChargers MAF translator will allow adjustments, real easy too. 5% increments for base and 2% for WOT settings.

If your car is a '02, try putting the stock MAF back on the car. Think your problem will be gone. WJ.

I think the maf translator would help you out quite a bit. Also check out your granatelli maf, a lot of people don't know it but they make two for your car. One for a stock airbox/filter, and one for a cold air intake. The one for cold air will have a "c" after the part number.

I don't have my stock MAF anymore. I sold it to a friend, and I bought my GMAF used, so I can't really look up the number. Is there any way to tell by looking at it??
How easy is it to use a MAFT? Is is complicated?
How much does it cost??

Believe me, get rid of the Granatelli MAF and put a stock '02 back on. No more problem. WJ.
