Default Is this possible?

Would it be possible to make a true dual system for a f-body that has tips in the stock locations? I see everyone has them dumping out before the axel. So, is it possible to fit pipes under the axel so I could have stock tips?

Yes it is possible and I don't know why more people don't do it. I think it just has to do with the extra cost of going up and over the axle - especially if you want mandrel bends. I mean any joe schmoe exhaust place can cut a straight piece of pipe for the dump that won't be restrictive, but it is harder to go up over the axle - which would defeat the purpose of the duals for power gains I guess.

Also, I think you would have to take both pipes over the axle on the same side - where every other catback goes over the axle on the passenger side. I don't think there is room over on the drivers side for a pipe to go up and over.

I could be wrong, but I think that is why most don't do it - cost, and restrictions.

You have to take the panhard rod out for the tube to fit over the drivers side of the axle. You can do it if you want both pipes crimped up going over the stock exhaust over the axle location.

If you got the pennies, you can have your cake and eat it too . Find a respectable shop, have them get the flat or oval "nascar" pipe. I seen this set up on a guys "Lingenfelter SS." schweeeeet. Unsure on his headers, but oval pipes run straight out of them into small flowmasters (yeah-you say they dont flow these little bastards do) flow is good BTW when not using a single in dual out. Anyway, muff mounted right before the axle, then flats up and over the axle exiting stock location, looks just like stock SS tips. Sounds schweeeet. Really nice clearance. Price, well, when I asked about it I was estimated @ 650.00 for the pipes, not the mufflers or headers or tips. Although the shop that hooked it up works good discounts. I am saving for this style. Good Luck.

Charlie.
